Mr. President, Senator Ben Ray Lujan of New Mexico and Senator Peter Welch of Vermont support the motion to commit bill H.R. 1 to the Committee on Finance of the Senate and eliminate provisions that would cut Medicaid payments to rural hospitals in Maine, Alaska, Missouri, Kansas, North Carolina, Louisiana, or West Virginia and ensure big corporations and the ultrawealthy pay a fair share in taxes. Senator Lujan and Senator Welch know the existing challenges rural hospitals face and understand the profound harm that this Republican tax scheme will have on our Nation's rural hospitals. I hope my Senate Republican colleagues join us in standing up for the hospitals in their States that would suffer under this Republican legislation. ____________________
