Mr. President, Senator Ben Ray Lujan of New Mexico and\nSenator Peter Welch of Vermont support the motion to commit bill H.R. 1\nto the Committee on Finance of the Senate and eliminate provisions that\nwould cut Medicaid payments to rural hospitals in Maine, Alaska,\nMissouri, Kansas, North Carolina, Louisiana, or West Virginia and\nensure big corporations and the ultrawealthy pay a fair share in taxes.\nSenator Lujan and Senator Welch know the existing challenges rural\nhospitals face and understand the profound harm that this Republican\ntax scheme will have on our Nation's rural hospitals.
