98-sconres-65 98 sconres 65 A concurrent resolution expressing the sense of the Congress that the Republic of South Africa should cease its "blackspot" policy of forcibly removing black South Africans from their legally acquired residences and relocating them, and for other purposes. International Affairs 1983-08-04 1984-10-03 Indefinitely postponed by Senate by Unanimous Consent. Senate Sen. Glenn, John H., Jr. [D-OH] OH D G000236 12 (Measure indefinitely postponed in Senate, H. Con. Res. 122 passed in lieu) Expresses the sense of the Congress that: (1) the policy of separate development and forced relocation of black South Africans (blackspot policy) is inconsistent with American values and international human rights principles; (2) the U.S. Government should continue to regard South African citizens as all persons born within the internationally recognized boundaries of South Africa and not differentiate among these citizens on the basis of South Africa granting independence to the "homelands"; (3) no visa for travel to the United States should be granted to any "homeland" official unless such official holds a passport which is recognized as valid by the United States; and (4) the United States should urge South Africa to discontinue the blackspot policy and to adopt policies which protect all its citizens regardless of race. 2025-01-14T19:00:46Z
