[R-NM] | NM | R | D000407 | 0 | Border States Natural Resources Research Act of 1984 - Authorizes the Secretary of Education to make grants to one or more institutions of higher education to establish and support border natural resources research in each border State (Arizona, California, New Mexico, and Texas) in the United States-Mexico border region. Requires that, in order to receive such assistance, an institution of higher education must be located in a border State and have a competent and qualified natural resources institute (or center or other equivalent division). Authorizes appropriations for FY 1985 through 1987. Directs the Secretary to distribute such appropriations for each fiscal year equally among the border States. Requires that such grants be used to initiate and support natural resources research programs and provide for the training of specialists of border State natural resources problems. Sets forth various types of activities which such research may include. Sets forth grant application requirements. Sets forth provisions for cooperative research.
