Boschwitz, Rudy [R-MN] MN R B000647 1 (Reported to Senate from the Select Committee on Indian Affairs with amendment, S. Rept. 98-407) Provides formulae for the distribution and use of judgment funds awarded to the Lake Superior and Mississippi Bands of Chippewa Indians in the State of Minnesota. Directs the Secretary of the Interior to divide specified funds on the basis of the population and reservation community groups as reflected in certain census and annuity rolls. Requires twenty per cent of specified funds to be made available by the Secretary to specified groups for program purposes within 60 days after enactment of this Act if the Secretary has approved the program plan submitted by each group. Requires eighty percent of specified funds to be administered by the Secretary for per capita distribution according to specific guidelines. Exempts the funds from: (1) State or Federal income taxes; and (2) from being considered as income or resources for purposes of eligibility for assistance under Federal assistance programs (including the Social Security Act). 2025-06-20T19:33:16Z
