98-hr-6380 98 hr 6380 A bill to provide for compensation with respect to former members of the Armed Forces of the United States for each day spent avoiding capture by hostile forces or as underground fighters while unattached to any regular unit of the Armed Forces during World War II. Heftel, Cecil [D-HI-1] HI D H000449 0 Amends the War Claims Act of 1948 to authorize the Foreign Claims Settlement Commission of the United States to determine claims for compensation allowed to underground fighters. Defines an underground fighter as an individual who served during the United States involvement in World War II as a guerilla fighter or concealed himself from or escaped from confinement by a hostile force and who is a citizen, national, or resident alien of the United States at the time of enactment of this Act. Sets the rate of compensation at $5 per day of resistance. Establishes the statute of limitations at one year from enactment of this Act. Authorizes appropriations. 2021-06-29T21:25:08Z
