Moakley, John Joseph [D-MA-9] MA D M000834 75 (House agreed to Senate amendment with an amendment) Cigarette Safety Act of 1984 - Establishes an Interagency Committee on Cigarette and Little Cigar Fire Safety which shall direct, oversee, and review the work of the Technical Study Group on Cigarette and Little Cigar Fire Safety (established by this Act) and make policy recommendations to Congress as it deems appropriate. Establishes the Technical Study Group on Cigarette and Little Cigar Fire Safety to undertake studies and other activities necessary to determine the technical and commercial feasibility, economic impact, and other consequences of developing cigarettes and little cigars that will have a minimum propensity to ignite upholstered furniture or mattresses. Requires the Committee to submit a status report to Congress within one year after the date of enactment of this Act and a final technical report, prepared by the Study Group, not later than 30 months after the date of enactment of this Act. Terminates the Committee and the Study Group one month after submission of such reports. Declares that any information provided to the Committee or the Study Group which is designated as trade secret or confidential information shall be treated as such and shall not be revealed. Permits the use of any such information in the required reports to Congress. 2024-02-05T14:30:09Z
