[D-NY-13] NY D S000673 0 Expresses the intent of Congress that routine protection of foreign government premises, officials, and nationals which are located in the United States but are outside the metropolitan District of Columbia area remain the responsibility of State and local governments. Authorizes the Secretary of State to request the assistance of State and local governments outside the District of Columbia in providing protective security details and other extraordinary functions relating to the protection of such premises, officials, and nationals within the jurisdiction of the State or local government. Directs the Secretary, upon request or if warranted by the circumstances, to reimburse State and local governments for the reasonable expenses associated with the performance of those functions. Authorizes the Secretary to procure other security services if the State or local government cannot provide the requested assistance. Authorizes appropriations. 2024-02-07T11:38:03Z
