Porter, John Edward [R-IL-10] IL R P000444 0 Noise Abatement Act of 1980 - Repeals specified provisions of the Aviation Safety and Noise Abatement Act of 1979 concerning exemptions for aircraft from certain aviation noise standards. Directs the Secretary of Transportation to determine and establish for specified aircraft the lowest noise level which could be achieved by retrofitting such aircraft. Prohibits, on and after January 1, 1983, domestic operation of aircraft that do not comply with such noise standards. Directs that, on and after January 1, 1982, specified aircraft that are operated in air transportation by an air carrier or a foreign air carrier shall be in compliance with such noise standards. Authorizes the Secretary to make grants to aircraft owners for retrofitting such aircraft. Authorizes appropriations from the Airport and Airway Trust Fund for fiscal year 1981 and beyond. 2025-09-02T13:54:55Z
