[D-MI-12] MI D B000619 0 International Wildlife Resources Conservation Act of 1980 - Authorizes the Secretary of the Interior to arrange the assignment of Department employees and specified employees detailed to the Department to requesting international organizations or foreign governments for wildlife conservation projects which are of mutual concern to the United States and the requestor. Limits such assignments to no more than two years. Authorizes the Secretary to provide financial assistance for the training of foreign nationals in the field of wildlife conservation and administration. Directs the Secretary and the Secretary of State to designate wildlife resource conservation regions on a global basis. Authorizes the Secretary to assign a regional wildlife resource attache to each such region to be responsible for liaison work, expert staff assistance, and the dissemination of reliable wildlife data. Authorizes the Secretary to provide wildlife resource conservation assistance to foreign countries from excess or other foreign currency accruing to the United States. Establishes the Advisory Council on International Wildlife Resource Conservation Policy to report to the appropriate congressional committees concerning implementation of this Act and any recommendations to enhance wildlife resources conservation. Directs the Secretary to design a comprehensive program to conserve the African elephant which shall include specified measures. 2025-09-02T13:54:33Z
