Rept. 95-985) Supreme Court Jurisdiction Act - Repeals various provisions authorizing appeals to the United States Supreme Court, including (1) direct appeal from a United States district court decision holding an Act of Congress unconstitutional in a civil proceeding to which the United States is a party; (2) appeal from a United States court of appeals decision holding a State statute unconstitutional; (3) appeal from a decision of the highest court of a State holding a State statute constitutional; (4) appeals regarding the constitutionality of the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971; (5) appeal from the Court of Claims with regard to certain Indian claims in California; and (6) direct appeal from a United States district court decision regarding construction of the Alaska pipeline. Substitutes Supreme Court review by writ of certiorari for certain of these actions. Makes the provisions of this Act effective 90 days after enactment. Provides that the manner of reviewing cases in which a judgment or decree was entered before the effective date or which were pending before the Supreme Court on the effective date shall not be affected. | 2025-09-02T17:14:22Z |
