95-hr-7282 95 hr 7282 A bill to amend title XVI of the Social Security Act to provide that certain aliens may not qualify for supplemental security income benefits unless they not only are permanent residents of the United States but have also continuously resided in the United States for a period of 5 years, and to provide that an alien may not be admitted to the United States unless a citizen of the United States agrees to provide support to such alien for a period of 5 years after admission. [D-OH-13] OH D P000170 24 Amends Title XVI (Supplemental Security Income for the Aged, Blind, and Disabled) of the Social Security Act to require that resident aliens reside continuously in the United States for five years to qualify for supplemental security income benefits. Amends the Immigrations and Nationality Act to prevent an immigrant from entering the United States unless a United States citizen (immigration sponsor) executes a document, signed in the presence of an immigration officer, agreeing to support the immigrant for five years from the date of his admission at 125 percent of the current poverty level rates. Excuses the immigration sponsor from performance of the agreement if such sponsor dies or is adjudicated a bankrupt. 2024-08-01T20:01:55Z
