[D-NJ-8] NJ D R000383 0 Authorizes and directs the Secretary of Transportation to conduct a study of the costs, benefits, and methods of acquisition, operation, and maintenance by the Federal Government of all railroad tracks, rights-of-way, signal and train control systems, and other fixed facilities. Directs the Secretary in conducting such study to give consideration to the feasibility of establishing a comprehensive program of coordinated Federal assistance for all forms of transportation in the United States which is designed to bring together all of the Federal transportation-related programs and is funded by means of a Federal transportation trust fund financed in part by user charges to rail carriers. Authorizes appropriations not exceeding $100,000 in order to conduct such study. Requires the Secretary to submit a full report concerning such study to Congress by June 30,1978. 2024-08-01T19:56:56Z
