94-hr-7592 94 hr 7592 A bill to provide for the definition and punishment of certain crimes in accordance with the Federal laws in force within the special maritime and territorial jurisdiction of the United States when said crimes are committed by an Indian in order to insure equal treatment for Indian and non-Indian offenders. Rodino, Peter W., Jr. [D-NJ-10] NJ D R000374 1 Stipulates that Indians committing specified crimes within Indian country shall be subject to the same laws and penalties as all other persons committing such crimes within the exclusive jurisdiction of the United States, except that any such offenses not defined and punishable by Federal law shall be defined and punished by the laws of the State in which such offense was committed. Provides that any person committing assault resulting in serious bodily injury within the maritime and territorial jurisdiction of the United States shall be fined not more than $10,000, or imprisonment not more than ten years, or both. 2024-08-01T19:27:16Z
