Heinz, John [R-PA-18] PA R H000456 19 Bridge Safety Act - Title I: Bridge Program - Declares it to be the finding of Congress that a bridge repair and replacement program to enable a State to repair or replace highway bridges which are unsafe is in the vital interest of the Nation. Authorizes the Secretary of Transportation to approve Federal participation in a State project to repair or replace a bridge under a needs formula as established in this Act. Stipulates that the Federal share of any such project shall not exceed 90 percent of its cost. Authorizes appropriations out of the Highway Trust Fund of $180,000,000 for the period beginning July 1, 1976, and ending September 30, 1976, and $720,000,000 for each of the fiscal years 1977 through 1990 for such purpose. Title II: Extension of Highway Trust Fund and Certain Related Provisions - Extends appropriations under the Highway Revenue Act of 1956 for the Highway Trust Fund through fiscal year 1990. Extends the Land and Water Conservation Fund through fiscal year 1990. Postpones specified excise tax reductions under the Internal Revenue Code of 1954. 2025-09-02T18:50:01Z
