Holtzman, Elizabeth [D-NY-16] NY D H000752 0 Civil Contempt Reform Act - Requires a hearing at which an individual may be represented by counsel before such individual's refusal to testify when appearing in a grand jury proceeding may result in a finding of contempt. Limits imprisonment for such contempt to a period of six months (formerly 18 months). Prohibits fining or imprisoning a witness for a refusal to testify in a grand jury proceeding if such witness has been fined or imprisoned for a previous refusal to testify on the same transaction or events. (Amends 28 U.S.C. 1826; Adds 18 U.S.C. 403) 2025-09-02T18:49:08Z
