Gravel, Mike [D-AK] AK D G000388 0 Local Hire Preference Act - Defines the terms used in this Act. Declares it the policy of the United States that in any area of substantial unemployment an executive agency or an employer engaged in a federally related activity shall give preference in hiring for employment to residents of that area. Directs the Secretary of Labor to prescribe by regulation the conditions for residences for individuals. States that each executive agency shall adopt and maintain procedures, continuously conduct activities and projects, and undertake such other action as may be necessary and appropriate to carry out the policy set forth in this Act. Requires each executive agency to report quarterly to the Secretary on the procedures, activities, projects, actions, and provisions undertaken to carry out the policy. Authorizes to be appropriated such sums as may be necessary to carry out the provisions of this Act. 2025-09-03T12:53:21Z
