(text of measure as introduced: CR S4775) Senate Sen. Akaka, Daniel K. [D-HI] HI D A000069 3 Dam Safety Act of 2012 - Authorizes appropriations for the National Dam Safety Program for FY2012-FY2016. Requires the head of a federal agency, on request, to provide a state dam safety agency with information on the condition and provisions for emergency operations of any dam the failure of which would affect the state. Includes as an objective of the National Dam Safety Program the development and implementation of a comprehensive dam safety hazard education and public awareness program to assist the public in preparing for, mitigating, responding to, and recovering from dam incidents. Directs the Administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to carry out such a public awareness and outreach program nationwide. Authorizes the Administrator to invite representatives from nongovernmental organizations to participate in meetings of the National Dam Safety Review Board. 2019-02-20T23:40:31Z
