Gorton, Slade [R-WA] WA R G000333 5 Expresses the sense of the Congress that: (1) the people of the Republic of Croatia are to be congratulated on successful parliamentary and presidential elections and the outgoing Government of Croatia is to be commended for the democratic standards with which it managed the elections; (2) the United States should support the efforts of the new Government of Croatia to increase its work on refugee return, privatization reform, media reform, and further cooperation with the International Criminal Tribunal for Former Yugoslavia (ITCY); (3) Congress strongly supports Croatia's commitment to democracy and will give its full support to the efforts of the new Government to fully implement democratic reforms; (4) the United States should continue to promote Croatian-American economic, political, and military relations and to recognize Croatia as a loyal partner in south central Europe; and (5) Congress recommends establishing a strategic partnership with the Republic of Croatia and supports the serious consideration of it's candidacy for membership in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization's Partnership for Peace program and accession into the World Trade Organization. 2025-01-14T19:00:46Z
