Ashcroft, John [R-MO] MO R A000356 0 Records Access Improvements Act of 2000 - Amends the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act to reduce by ten percent each year, beginning with FY 2001, the total amount appropriated to each State from the Violent Crime Reduction Trust Fund until its chief executive officer certifies to the Attorney General that at least 95 percent of the records of persons prohibited from access to firearms in that State have been and continue to be provided to the Federal Bureau of Investigation to support implementation of the National Instant Criminal Background Check System. Includes as prohibited from firearms access persons who are: (1) adjudicated as mental defectives or committed; (2) under indictment for, or convicted of, a crime punishable by imprisonment exceeding one year; (3) fugitives from justice; (4) unlawful users of or addicted to any controlled substance; (5) subject to a domestic violence court restraining order; or (6) convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence. 2025-08-20T14:20:46Z
