104-sconres-43 104 sconres 43 A concurrent resolution expressing the sense of the Congress regarding proposed missile tests by the People's Republic of China. International Affairs 1996-03-06 1996-03-06 Referred to the Committee on Foreign Relations. Senate Sen. Thomas, Craig [R-WY] WY R T000162 23 Deplores the missile tests that the People's Republic of China (PRC) will conduct from March 8 through 15, 1996, as a threat to the peace, security, and stability of Taiwan and as not being in the spirit of the three U.S.-China Joint Communiques. Calls for the Government of the PRC to cease its bellicose actions directed at Taiwan and enter into meaningful dialogue with the Government of Taiwan at the highest levels with an eye toward decreasing tensions and resolving the issue of the future of Taiwan. Urges the President to consult with the Congress on an appropriate U.S. response to the tests and to reexamine the nature and quantity of defense articles and services that may be necessary to enable Taiwan to maintain a sufficient self-defense capability in light of the heightened threat. 2025-01-14T19:00:46Z
