[R-MT] | MT | R | B001126 | 1 | Fort Peck Reservation Rural Water System Act of 1996 - Directs the Secretary of the Interior to plan, design, construct (including replacement of structures and equipment), operate, and maintain the Fort Peck Reservation Rural Water System. Directs the Secretary to enter into a cooperative agreement with the Fort Peck Tribal Executive Board regarding the Fort Peck Reservation Rural Water System. Provides that title to the Water System be held in trust by the United States for the Fort Peck Tribes and not be transferred unless a transfer is authorized by an Act of Congress enacted after the enactment of this Act. Limits the availability of construction funds for the construction of the Water System until certain requirements are met. Requires that the Fort Peck tribes develop a water conservation plan containing definite goals, water conservation measures, and a time schedule for meeting water conservation objectives. Applies the provisions of the Reclamation Reform Act of 1982 to the Water System. Directs the Water System to use power from the Pick-Sloan Missouri Basin Program for operation. Considers use of the power to be a project use pumping requirement of Pick-Sloan. Authorizes appropriations. | 2026-03-24T12:48:03Z |
