[R-UT] | UT | R | H000338 | 0 | Battered Women's Testimony Act of 1992 - Directs the State Justice Institute to make grants to or enter into contracts with a single eligible entity to: (1) collect on a a nationwide basis and analyze information regarding the admissibility and quality of expert testimony on the experiences of battered women offered either as part of the defense or as part of the prosecution in criminal cases under State law and regarding sources of, and methods of obtaining, funds to pay costs incurred in providing such testimony, particular in cases in which the defendant or the prosecuting witness is an indigent woman; (2) develop training materials to assist battered women, operators of domestic violence shelters, advocates for battered women, and attorneys in using such testimony in appropriate cases and to assist individuals with expertise in the experiences of battered women in developing skills appropriate to providing such testimony; and (3) disseminate such information and training materials and provide related technical assistance to battered women, shelter operators, advocates, attorneys, and individuals providing testimony.
