Baucus, Max [D-MT] MT D B000243 1 Fort Peck Indian Tribes-Montana Compact Act of 1992 - Ratifies the Fort Peck Indian Tribes-Montana Compact that relates to the reserved water rights of the Assiniboine and Sioux Tribes of the Fort Peck Reservation in Montana. Authorizes the Tribe to enter into a joint venture, service contract, lease, exchange, agreement, or to modify such agreement to authorize: (1) the delivery, use, or transfer of any part of the water rights confirmed in the Tribes by the Compact, for a maximum 50-year term inclusive of all renewal periods; or (2) the diversion or use of water within or outside the Reservation. Requires the Secretary of the Interior (Secretary) to approve or disapprove a water agreement by the later of: (1) 180 days after submission to the Secretary; or (2) 60 days after any required compliance with Federal law. Provides for confidentiality of water agreement information regarding agreement terms and conditions or tribal financial benefits. 2025-06-20T19:33:16Z
