Baucus, Max [D-MT] MT D B000243 0 Prescribed Fire Relief Act of 1988 - Establishes a Prescribed Fire Relief Commission, chaired by the Administrator of the Small Business Administration, to study and report to the Congress and the President on: (1) which fires occurring in 1988 in national parks, national forests, and other U.S. public lands were permitted to burn under the Forest Service's wilderness fire policy, the National Park Service's prescribed natural fire policy, or the Bureau of Land Management's prescribed fire policy; and (2) whether substantial economic or physical injury resulted. Amends the Small Business Act to authorize compensatory grants to homeowners or businesses for losses incurred as a result of injurious fires identified by the Commission. Sets the amount of such grants. Amends the Consolidated Farm and Rural Development Act to authorize grants for loans for losses incurred as a result of injurious fires identified by the Commission.
