[D-NJ-14] | NJ | D | G000511 | 20 | Immigration Nursing Crisis Relief Act of 1988 - Provides for a one-year visa (H-1) extension for alien nurses who have completed five years of nursing in the United States. Permits adjustment to permanent resident status for an alien nurse who: (1) has completed such six years' service; (2) has performed any of such service in a nursing crisis area; and (3) meets the applicable requirements set forth under this Act. Directs the Secretary of Health and Human Services to make an annual determination of whether a national nursing shortage exists and, if so, to determine: (1) the number of nursing visas necessary; and (2) areas in the United States which are nursing crisis areas.
