The northern boundary is from the end of Navy Pier One at 30[deg]05'45" N 93[deg]43'24" W then easterly to the river's eastern shore. The southern boundary is a line shoreline to shoreline at latitude 30[deg]05'33" N. This safety zone is needed to protect spectators and vessels from potential safety hazards associated with a high speed boat race.
