E8-24625 Indexed Annuities and Certain Other Insurance Contracts Proposed Rule The Securities and Exchange Commission is reopening the period for public comment on new rules that it originally proposed in Securities Act Release No. 8933 (June 25, 2008) [73 FR 37752 (July 1, 2008)]. The Commission proposed a rule that would, if adopted, define the terms "annuity contract" and "optional annuity contract" under the Securities Act of 1933. The proposed rule is intended to clarify the status under the federal securities laws of indexed annuities.
