Sumitomo filed a noncompliance report dated November 12, 2020. Sumitomo subsequently petitioned NHTSA on December 4, 2020, and later amended its petition on April 8, 2021, and July 9, 2021, for a decision that the subject noncompliance is inconsequential as it relates to motor vehicle safety.
