2012-16250 Advanced Braking Technologies That Rely on Forward-Looking Sensors; Request for Comments Notice The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has, for about two years, been studying advanced braking technologies that rely on forward-looking sensors to supplement driver braking or to actuate automatic braking in response to an impending crash. NHTSA believes these technologies show promise for enhancing vehicle safety by helping drivers to avoid crashes or mitigate the severity and effects of crashes.
