2011-9210 Interest on Deposits; Deposit Insurance Coverage Proposed Rule Effective July 21, 2011, the statutory prohibition against the payment of interest on demand deposits will be repealed pursuant to the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act (the DFA).\1\ In light of this, the FDIC proposes to rescind regulations that have implemented this prohibition with respect to state-chartered nonmember (SNM) banks.
