2010-28011 Regulations Under the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act of 2008 Rule The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission ("EEOC" or "Commission") is issuing a final rule to implement Title II of the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act of 2008 ("GINA"). Congress enacted Title II of GINA to protect job applicants, current and former employees, labor union members, and apprentices and trainees from discrimination based on their genetic information. Title II of GINA requires the EEOC to issue implementing regulations. The Commission issued a proposed rule in the Federal Register on March 2, 2009, for a sixty-day notice and comment period that ended on May 1, 2009.
