| 2010-25131 | Model Specifications for Breath Alcohol Ignition Interlock Devices (BAIIDs) | Notice | This notice proposes revisions to the Model Specifications for Breath Alcohol Ignition Interlock Devices (BAIIDs). The Model Specifications are guidelines for the performance and testing of BAIIDs. These devices are designed to prevent a driver from starting a motor vehicle when the driver's breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is at or above a set alcohol level. Most States currently use BAIIDs as a sanction for drivers convicted of driving while intoxicated offenses. In 1992, this technology was new. Now that it has matured, NHTSA proposes to revise the 1992 Model Specifications, to test BAIIDs for conformance and to maintain a conforming products list (CPL) of BAIIDs that have been found to meet the Model Specifications. These proposed revisions are based, in part, on input from interested parties during an open comment period. | 2010-10-06 | 2010 | 10 | https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2010/10/06/2010-25131/model-specifications-for-breath-alcohol-ignition-interlock-devices-baiids | https://www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/FR-2010-10-06/pdf/2010-25131.pdf | Transportation Department; National Highway Traffic Safety Administration | 492,345 | This notice proposes revisions to the Model Specifications for Breath Alcohol Ignition Interlock Devices (BAIIDs).
