H3339", "Congressional Record, Volume 172 Issue 78 (Thursday, May 7, 2026)\n\n[Congressional Record Volume 172, Number 78 (Thursday, May 7, 2026)]\n[House]\n[Page H3339]\nFrom the Congressional Record Online through the Government Publishing Office [www.gpo.gov]\n\n                                 PRAYER\n\n  The Chaplain, the Reverend Margaret Grun Kibben, offered the\nfollowing prayer:\n  Generous and loving God, on this National Day of Prayer, we come\nbefore You, stepping away briefly from the situations that vie for our\nattention, setting aside, if only for a moment, our anxieties to\nacknowledge Your holy presence in our lives and in this room.\n  We confess not only our reluctance to approach You more often, but\neven more, we admit with contrition the things we have done that have\nkept us from You and the things we have left undone which would have\ndrawn us nearer to You.\n  But like a parent, You receive us into Your loving embrace, both to\ncomfort us and to welcome us into Your steadfast love. Our gratitude is\ntoo great for words. Our thankfulness overwhelms our spirits.\n  As our cup overflows with Your mercies, we pray in supplication for\nthose in our communities, in our country, and in our world who do not\nyet know Your peace. In their illness, grant them healing. In their\npoverty, provide for their needs. In their warfare, grant them reason\nto cease their hostilities.\n  Lord, we come to You in adoration, confession, thanksgiving, and\nsupplication.
