Mr. Speaker, I rise to celebrate the women's basketball\nteam from the University of California, Los Angeles, which took home\nthe 2025 to 2026 NCAA Division One National Championship on April 6,\n2026. UCLA defeated the women's basketball team from the University of\nSouth Carolina by a score of 79-51 to clinch the title in Phoenix,\nArizona.\n  This year's championship is the program's 1st NCAA national\nchampionship and 126th\n\n[[Page E420]]\n\noverall NCAA championship earned by a UCLA Bruins team in any sport. In\n1978, UCLA Women's Basketball won the AIAW Division One/Large College\ntournament championship.\n  The team should be proud of their accomplishments, earning a number\none rating in both the Associated Press and Coaches polls ranking\nwomen's basketball teams. UCLA women's basketball finished the season\nwith an overall 37-1 record and a perfect 18-0 record, capturing the\nBig Ten conference championship. Led by coach Cori Close, the team\nbuilt a strong core of student athletes who won week after week in\ngames around the Nation and on the hallowed court at UCLA's Pauley\nPavilion.\n  After being selected as the number two overall in the NCAA women's\nbasketball tournament, the UCLA women went perfect, making it to the\nNational Championship game against the South Carolina Gamecocks. UCLA\ndominated the Championship game in Phoenix, winning 79-51 and securing\nthe title for themselves in dramatic fashion. This Championship was\ncelebrated by the team and the greater UCLA community. To further\nhighlight the accomplishments of this team, six senior players from the\nUCLA women's basketball team were selected in the 2026 Women's National\nBasketball Association draft, five in the first round, which is a WNBA\nrecord.\n  I would like to sincerely congratulate the UCLA women's basketball\nteam once again on winning the national championship and wish them the\nbest of luck next season. Their performance throughout this season was\nincredible and a tribute to the achievements of student athletes\nthroughout the Nation. Go Bruins.\n\n                          ____________________"]], "columns": ["granule_id", "date", "congress", "session", "volume", "issue", "title", "chamber", "granule_class", "sub_granule_class", "page_start", "page_end", "speakers", "bills", "citation", "full_text"], "primary_keys": ["granule_id"], "primary_key_values": ["CREC-2026-05-07-pt1-PgE419-6"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.5356140900403261, "source": "Federal Register API & Regulations.gov API", "source_url": "https://www.federalregister.gov/developers/api/v1", "license": "Public Domain (U.S. Government data)", "license_url": "https://www.regulations.gov/faq"}
