YVONNE BROWN\n\n                                 ______\n\n                         HON. VICENTE GONZALEZ\n\n                                of texas\n\n                    in the house of representatives\n\n                         Thursday, May 7, 2026\n\n  Mr. GONZALEZ. Mr. Speaker, I rise today to honor and commend Mrs.\nYvonne Brown for her commitment to educational excellence and for\nreceiving the Teacher of the Year award at St. Patrick's School in\nCorpus Christi, Texas. Mrs. Brown was honored by the St. Patrick's\ncommunity for over 19 years of service and dedication to its students.\n\n[[Page E418]]\n\n  Her first role in education was at Marine Corps Base Quantico,\nserving as an elementary school English-as-a-Second-Language (ESL)\ninstructor, where she approached her students with patience,\nintentionality, and compassion. She has always been motivated by a\ndesire to help others through learning just as her teachers once helped\nher.\n  Mrs. Brown currently serves as the computer and technology teacher at\nSt. Patrick's School. In the computer lab, she has developed an\ninnovative curriculum to teach elementary schoolers digital literacy,\ntyping, coding, and robotics. These foundational skills will serve\nstudents for life in a world with rapidly developing technology.\n  Not only do these classes help students meet the growing\ntechnological demands of the 21st century, but they also inspire\nstudents to pursue advanced studies in areas such as computer science,\nartificial intelligence, and engineering.\n  In addition, Mrs. Brown serves as a leader of the St. Patrick's\ntheater program, casting, directing, and producing multiple plays per\nyear. This provides her students with the opportunity to express\nthemselves creatively and faithfully in artistic outlets.\n  Outside of the classroom, Mrs. Brown has helped organize the school's\nHalloween Carnival, led her local Girl Scout Troop, and kept her\ncommunity safe by coordinating a Watch Dog Program.\n  Mr. Speaker, on behalf of the 34th Congressional District of Texas, I\ncongratulate Mrs. Yvonne Brown on her many accomplishments and thank\nher for her continued service.
