Mr. President, I ask unanimous consent that the following motions to commit for the bill H.R. 1 be placed in the Congressional Record: A motion to commit the bill H.R. 1 to the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources of the Senate with instructions to report the same back to the Senate in 3 days, not counting any day on which the Senate is not in session, with changes that-- (1) are within the jurisdiction of such committee; and (2) would ensure that any sales of public lands exclude-- (A) land deemed valuable for watershed health; (B) land used for, or suitable for, hunting, fishing, or recreation; (C) land with cultural or historic significance; (D) land with critical wildlife habitat; (E) land including areas sensitive for reasons relating to national security; (F) land within the limits of an Indian reservation; and (G) land over which federally recognized Indian Tribes retain reserved rights, including hunting, fishing, and gathering rights through a treaty, agreement, or Executive order. A motion to commit the bill H.R. 1 to the Committee on Finance of the Senate with instructions to report the same back to the Senate in 3 days, not counting any day on which the Senate is not in session, with changes that-- (1) are within the jurisdiction of such committee; and (2) would strike any provision that cuts funding for Medicaid which covers care for 60 percent of all nursing home residents. A motion to commit the bill H.R. 1 to the Committee on Finance of the Senate with instructions to report the same back to the Senate in 3 days, not counting any day on which the Senate is not in session, with changes that-- (1) are within the jurisdiction of such committee; and (2) would strike any provision that cuts funding for Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act which-- (A) protects access for the 7,000,000 small businesses workers who depend on Medicaid coverage; and (B) protects access for the 4,000,000 small businesses who depend on the Affordable Care Act exchanges. A motion to commit the bill H.R. 1 to the Committee on the Judiciary of the Senate with instructions to report the same back to the Senate in 3 days, not counting any day on which the Senate is not in session, with changes that-- (1) are within the jurisdiction of such committee; and (2) would ensure the State of Colorado is included in the definition of `affected area' in downwind States, due to the catastrophic amounts of radiation exposure in this State after United States testing above ground nuclear weapons during World War II and the Cold War. ____________________ |
