Madam President, I ask unanimous consent that when the Senate completes its business today, it stand adjourned until 1 p.m. on Thursday, January 9; that following the prayer and pledge, the Journal of proceedings be approved to date, the morning hour be deemed expired, the time for the two leaders be reserved for their use later in the day, and morning business be closed; further, that upon the conclusion of morning business, the Senate resume consideration of the motion to proceed to Calendar No. 1, S. 5; finally, that notwithstanding rule XXII, the cloture vote with respect to the motion to proceed to Calendar No. 1, S. 5, occur at 3 p.m. tomorrow.
