Mr. Speaker, I rise today to congratulate Naya\nStamets. Naya is an extraordinary leader with a heart as bold and\ninspiring as her mission. It's the only way you get to receive the most\nprestigious award in Girl Scouting, the Gold Award. She earned this\naward by turning her personal battle with Type 1 Diabetes into a\npowerful PSA, raising awareness of the condition one person at a time.\n  It is so wonderful to have Naya as my constituent from Farmington,\nNew Mexico. She is one of New Mexico's golden treasures.\n  She has been a member of the Girl Scouts of New Mexico Trails, Troop\n10068 for 13 years. She is now a first-year undergraduate student at\nNew Mexico Tech studying Mechanical Engineering and Digital Media--go\nMiners.\n  To earn the prestigious Girl Scout Gold Award, high school-age Girl\nScouts must identify and investigate an issue they care about, devise a\nplan, and then lead a team of experts and community members to\nimplement a project that produces lasting change.\n  In pursuit of this prestigious award, Naya created a PSA video with\nthe help of medical professionals to educate the community about T1D\nsymptoms, prevention, and management. Naya's PSA titled ``SEE T1D''\nwill have a positive impact on our New Mexico community for years to\ncome.\n  Naya was inspired to create this PSA after a life-threatening\nemergency in her childhood, where she learned she had Type 1 Diabetes\n(T1D). As she grew older, she noticed the lack of T1D education in her\ncommunity. At the end of the PSA, Naya included a QR code to a Google\nForm, which asks people if they experience any T1D symptoms and if\nsomeone selects 4 or more then it immediately tells them to contact\ntheir physician.\n  As a result of her PSA, she has been able to collect over 50 survey\nresponses and speak with 4 individuals who sought help after seeing her\nvideo and survey. Two people were able to get a diagnosis for early\nonset diabetes after consulting with their doctor and two others\nlearned they had other underlying health issues.\n  In addition, Naya was able to present her research and PSA to the\nInternational Order of the Rainbow Girls, where she shared her findings\nwith over 100 people from across the U.S. ranging from Connecticut,\nKansas, Ohio, and California.\n\n[[Page E1331]]\n\n  On behalf of the 3rd Congressional District of New Mexico, I\ncongratulate Naya for achieving the highest distinction in Girl Scouts,\nthe Gold Award. We are so proud of her.\n\n                          ____________________"]], "columns": ["granule_id", "date", "congress", "session", "volume", "issue", "title", "chamber", "granule_class", "sub_granule_class", "page_start", "page_end", "speakers", "bills", "citation", "full_text"], "primary_keys": ["granule_id"], "primary_key_values": ["CREC-2024-12-24-pt1-PgE1330-2"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 7.527172798290849, "source": "Federal Register API & Regulations.gov API", "source_url": "https://www.federalregister.gov/developers/api/v1", "license": "Public Domain (U.S. Government data)", "license_url": "https://www.regulations.gov/faq"}
