Mr. Speaker, I rise again today pleading with my\ncolleagues that we must come together to support a long-term funding\nsolution for the traditionally bipartisan Children's Health Insurance\nProgram, commonly known as CHIP.\n  Mr. Speaker, there is a family in Chesapeake, a locality in my\ndistrict, that demonstrates the dire challenges families across\nVirginia and this country face without CHIP.\n  CHIP serves as a lifeline for this family with four children, ages 8,\n7, 4, and 2. Before this family had access to CHIP, these children did\nnot have health insurance or well child visits with a doctor. The\nparents limited the 7- and 8-year-old children to indoor activities\nbecause they were afraid the children might break a bone or sustain a\nserous injury.\n  The mother also missed visits to the doctor's office for vital\nprenatal care because she was worried about doctor bills. The parents\nmissed work and kept the children home during flu season because they\ncould not afford a doctor's visit.\n  With CHIP, the mother and children all have health insurance, they\nare up to date on their wellness exams, and the children play outside\nagain.\n  Mr. Speaker, for the health of my constituents and millions of other\nAmericans, we must immediately come together for long-term funding for\nCHIP.\n\n                          ____________________"]], "columns": ["granule_id", "date", "congress", "session", "volume", "issue", "title", "chamber", "granule_class", "sub_granule_class", "page_start", "page_end", "speakers", "bills", "citation", "full_text"], "primary_keys": ["granule_id"], "primary_key_values": ["CREC-2018-01-10-pt1-PgH128-3"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 52.152974996715784, "source": "Federal Register API & Regulations.gov API", "source_url": "https://www.federalregister.gov/developers/api/v1", "license": "Public Domain (U.S. Government data)", "license_url": "https://www.regulations.gov/faq"}
