MALONEY of New York. Mr. Speaker, I rise to pay\ntribute to Major Chuck Kilbride for his work with the United States\nMarine Corps Toys for Tots Program. Major Kilbride, through his work\nwith the Toys for Tots Program, has provided hope and joy to children\nin need during the holiday season for well over two decades.\n  Started in 1947 by Major Bill Hendricks, Toys for Tots collects toys\nto provide to less fortunate youth, bringing local communities together\naround spreading holiday cheer. Toys for Tots was a quick success,\ncollecting and distributing 5,000 toys in its first year alone. It has\nonly improved throughout the years, providing over 512 million toys to\nover 237 million children nationwide to date.\n  The Toys for Tots Program is not only about making children's wishes\ncome true, it is about creating an environment of inclusion for all\nyouth, regardless of their background or economic situation. The\nprogram recognizes that children are our most valuable asset because\nthey are our future; investing in them is contributing to our future.\n  The Toys for Tots Program has a special place in my heart. Each year,\nit has provided toys to public housing residents throughout my district\nin Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens. I fondly remember distributing toys\nwith Major Kilbride at the Seward Park Community Center and the Vladeck\nHouses on the Lower East Side of Manhattan in December, 2009. That\nyear, Major Kilbride named my late husband, Clifton Maloney, honorary\nvice chairman of the Toys for Tots program in New York City. I am\ngrateful for all the amazing work Major Kilbride and his Marines have\ndone for children throughout the New York metropolitan area.\n  Mr. Speaker, I ask my colleagues to join me in celebrating Major\nChuck Kilbride, Gunnery Sergeant Brian Gomez, Staff Sergeant J.D.\nQuinton, and Sergeant Eliezer Gomez for their work for the United\nStates Marine Corps Toys for Tots Program. These gentlemen and the\nMarine Corps have worked tirelessly to spread happiness and faith to\nless fortunate youth during the holiday season.\n\n                          ____________________"]], "columns": ["granule_id", "date", "congress", "session", "volume", "issue", "title", "chamber", "granule_class", "sub_granule_class", "page_start", "page_end", "speakers", "bills", "citation", "full_text"], "primary_keys": ["granule_id"], "primary_key_values": ["CREC-2016-12-23-pt1-PgE1737-2"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.7930340254679322, "source": "Federal Register API & Regulations.gov API", "source_url": "https://www.federalregister.gov/developers/api/v1", "license": "Public Domain (U.S. Government data)", "license_url": "https://www.regulations.gov/faq"}
