Mr. Speaker, I ask all of my colleagues in Congress to\njoin me in paying tribute to an outstanding individual, Mr. Weaver\nOdom. Mr. Odom recently will retire after serving the Aldine\nIntermediate School District for 35 years, 31 of which has principal of\nColonial Hills Elementary.\n  Weaver Odom joined Aldine ISD in 1963 and spent the first few years\nof his career as a fifth and sixth grade teacher. In 1968 he became\ntemporary principal at Colonial Hills, but the temporary label was\ndropped. His 31 years of dedicated service will leave a legacy for\nstudents and teachers alike.\n  We in the Aldine ISD has been very fortunate to have benefited from\nMr. Odom's dedication and loyalty. He always led by example and\nfrequently welcomed students to school. Because he always treated\nothers with respect and dignity, the people who work for him and attend\nhis school consider him their friend as well as their principal.\n  Staff, faculty and students alike have spoken out in appreciation for\nMr. Odom's work ethic and love for his students. His staff is so loyal\nthat almost half of the school's employees have been there for more\nthen 10 years. Many have admitted they stay simply because Principal\nOdom makes working at Colonial Hills fun.\n  In honor of Weaver Odom, the Aldine ISD recently announced it's\ndecision to rename Colonial Hills to Odom Elementary. This honor is an\nappropriate way to thank Principal Odom for his dedication and\nleadership at the school and throughout the community.\n  Education is the key to our children's future and the key to our\ncountry's continued success. Principal Odom shares this belief and has\nworked with his faculty and staff to ensure that all students have an\nopportunity for quality education. The twenty-first century will bring\nnew challenges for our young people. Principal Odom has been committed\nto educating them to deal with these challenges.\n  For years, families have known this school is run by a man dedicated\nto providing an environment conducive to learning. I am certain that\nthe strength of the community would not be what it is without Mr.\nOdom's years of service and I am confident that his legacy will\ncontinue for years to come.\n\n                          ____________________"]], "columns": ["granule_id", "date", "congress", "session", "volume", "issue", "title", "chamber", "granule_class", "sub_granule_class", "page_start", "page_end", "speakers", "bills", "citation", "full_text"], "primary_keys": ["granule_id"], "primary_key_values": ["CREC-1998-12-17-pt1-PgE2335-2"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 26.185992057435215, "source": "Federal Register API & Regulations.gov API", "source_url": "https://www.federalregister.gov/developers/api/v1", "license": "Public Domain (U.S. Government data)", "license_url": "https://www.regulations.gov/faq"}
