Res. 6) of disapproval under the Congressional Review Act to repeal ergonomic protections for American workers. OSHA’s ergonomics standards, issued on November 14, 2000, were critically important to working men and women. Musculoskeletal Disorders caused by highly repetitive, heavy and forceful work are the nation’s biggest job safety problem, accounting for nearly a third of all serious job-related injuries. . It would not only eliminate this important worker protection, but would effectively prohibit OSHA from ever issuing a similar standard to protect workers from Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs). (Ltr. 3/6/01) The IBEW urged the Senate to vote against any amendment to S. 27, the McCain-Feingold campaign finance reform bill, that would increase the existing individual “hard money” contribution limits.
