This tax incentive costs the federal government $70 billion a year and largely benefits the highest-income families. Those funds should be reinvest in housing program for low income families and to create a new renter tax credit to help the lowest-income renters afford decent, stable housing. NETWORK support the Low Income Housing Tax Credit as a way to encourage the development of low income housing.
