If the Farm Bill being considered in this Committee becomes law, it will mean a cut of nearly $30 billion in SNAP benefits over a decade. Such cuts are unconscionable. For many children, these cuts will make learning more difficult and lead to negative health outcomes. They will force families to choose between putting food on the table and paying for other expenses such as rent, utilities, or prescription drugs. They also will harm our economy, removing the stimulative benefits of SNAP and even hurting farmers and ranchers. OPPOSE FARM BILL CUTS TO SNAP FUNDING: Sign on from national, state, and community-based organizations to Congress urging that any Farm Bill must - at its core - ensure that SNAP is protected and strengthened. Additionally, we will oppose any Farm Bill which proposes cuts to SNAP including restricting future Thrifty Food Plan benefit adjustments - nearly $30 billion in cuts over 10 years according to the Congressional Budget Office - in addition to provisions outsourcing administrative functions currently required to be performed by public sector merit employees.
