These include the use of grant funds to develop policies and protocols to recover, store, and return firearms in domestic violence cases in accordance with court orders and to provide alternatives to the traditional justice system when doing so desired by the victim and when such alternatives do not compromise victim or community safety. It also establishes new crimes (dating violence and stalking firearms prohibitors) and discourages compelling victim testimony in domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking cases. It also addresses reforming the prison system to be more responsive to the needs of women. H.R.1585 passed the House of Representatives. We also support S.2843, which is the companion to H.R.1585. We are still working with the Senate on a bipartisan compromise bill. During the COVID-19 pandemic, we are also seeking supplemental appropriations to STOP and other Violence Against Women Act grants to improve survivors' access to safety and justice. | HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,Justice, Dept of (DOJ),SENATE | 20000 | 0 | 0 | 2020-04-07T08:16:26.437000-04:00 |
