Many of these contracts are for U.S. military and humanitarian missions. Additionally, we continued discussions to remind the delegation of the importance of supplemental carriers to U.S. military and humanitarian missions, and the importance of CRAF - Civil Reserve Air Fleet. We are also concerned about the continued increase in government contracts that use foreign carriers for U.S. military cargo shipping, and contracts for maintenance and repair of U.S. Government aircraft that are awarded to foreign MROs. The challenge of proposed new regulations on methods for cargo loading in 747 aircraft (which fail to advance the publics interest in safety) is causing a shift of this business to foreign carriers. We continue to work to address that as well. We are working again with Michigan members in the House and Senate to address concerns that we have with the extension of flight and duty restrictions from scheduled passenger aircraft, to unscheduled cargo aircraft; and also the extension of pilot training requirements for cargo carriers that are unrelated to their work as cargo pilots. | HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,SENATE | 20000 | 0 | 0 | 2018-04-13T13:22:04.147000-04:00 |
